It Was a Candle Affair

I let the boys frost the Valentine's Day cake (be nice, now)....

While I put the finishing touches on dinner. Hello, hello, anybody there? It was a lot lighter in the actual shot.
And for future reference, red grape juice does not go well with Chicken Divan.

The cake turned out after all. Just ignore the stars and stripes tablecloth it's sitting on. Oh, and putting a tad of almond extract into the Frosting Made Easy * made it really good combined with the chocolate fudge cake.

The kids took advantage of the fact that it was a celebration, to eat processed foods. They probably think that is an existing holiday---Celebration of Processed Foods Day. I betcha that does exist if we Googled hard enough.

And this is what it looks like to talk on the phone to Grammy and Grandpa, just in case you were wondering.
Happy Valentine's Day!

*substitute non-hydrogenated organic shortening for shortening, and butter for margarine. See healthy fats on the side bar link.

I betcha we could make EVERY day a holiday if we did enough "googling".

The kids did a great job on their cards!
