Pray for Nathan

Aaron and Darlene's little boy has a brain tumor. The doctors are operating on Monday to biopsy the tumor and drain a cyst next to it. The tumor is right next to his speech pathway and sight, in his brain. Pray for the doctors skilled hands. Pray for timely and accurate diagnosis of the type of tumor. Pray for healing. The family is doing well and already noting many of God's graces that He orchestrated from months ago. Pray most of all for all the things you would want if this news came to you just yesterday about your own child.
Leave a comment for Nathan, Aaron, and Darlene below...

Oh How Quickly the Tide Doth Turn....

There are two things going on in this picture to be taken note of. The first is how well versed my children are in thankfulness and appreciation.

Me: How about pancakes and bacon for breakfast?

Them: Noooooooo, We want Coffeecake! COFFEECAKE!

The second thing to take note of happens exactly 8 seconds later. I know this because that's exactly how long it takes my beleaguered camera batteries to reboot the flash. This is also how long
it takes for Sawyer to be devastated.

"Daisy is on the carpet!"
In the world of a 4 year old, this is a crisis. You see, there is no more room for the Lego world he plans to build, right were Daisy is lallygagging.

Normally he would just go over and banish her himself. But since chicken pox has struck, everything is a little bit harder.

What They Ate For Dinner....

This is the "Mom-there's-chicken-pox-in-my-throat" diet. What is not pictured: popicles, ice cream, and chocolate milkshakes.
Tonight was the first night they had real food. The menu: Poor Man's Lobster with steamed new potatoes and asparagus. Not wanting to overwhelm them, I served tiny portions.
Here is what they ate-
Tristan: one bite fish, two asparagus, 2 bites potatoes
Greyson: one bite of fish
Sawyer: one bite of fish, one asparagus, zero potatoes.
Kiki: nothing. And she wasn't even sick.
Greyson had this to offer-
"Mom, can we have those BBQ chips because I tried them earlier today and they didn't hurt my throat. (Me looking incredulous) Really, Mom! I think they were soft or something."
Man, one week of junk food and there's no going back.

The Faith My Children Have In Me....

I am constantly amazed at how much my children think I know. Take for instance, this conversation I just had with Sawyer:

"Mom, I need a thing"
"What kind of thing?"
"Remember?....That bear movie with the guy?....And he had that thing that he shook with dirt and it turned into another thing?..."

Aha. So now we take a tour of the kitchen with me offering up several "things" and none of them meeting the need. I finally figured out a jar would do.

Sawyer came in triumphantly about 30 minutes later after some strenuous work.

"I DID IT!"

"That's so cool! What do you call that thing?" I asked him.
"I call it....watergrassdirt."
Good name.

I still have no idea what movie, or what guy, or what "thing" he was trying to reproduce. But I'm so proud of his labors.

It's 5:00 p.m......

Why are breakfast and lunch still on the table, and no dinner?

Could it be because Mom was up all night tending to suffering children?

You'd never know it by the energy they expended today....

Sawyer built his log cabin in the woods, complete with computer and mouse. Kiki and Greyson did acrobatic feats on the swingset, Tristan joined them for a game of chase through the upper level of our home.

It's the Bounce Back Factor. It's what makes a kid, a kid.

Bambi is NOT the Centerpiece

What looks like a friendly gathering is actually a buffet. Bambi is the main course.
I told Kiki, "You can't serve Bambi for dinner!"
"That's what everyone else said!" she exclaimed. And then we both found it a funny idea.

Melted My Heart

Sawyer's chicken pox kicked in full gear today. I wanted to scoop him up when he came to me with a forlorn face and whimpered:
"I want sumping cozy, Mom."
I ran to his room and dressed him in two sweaters. And then held him tight.
