Keeping a Low Profile

Nobody has heard of homeschooling in our town. So when it's recess, the kids play in the backyard.

This is Sawyer and Tristan's idea of how NOT to call attention to themselves:
Navigate your way through the hedge into the adjacent yard wearing ski masks, and make yourself at home.

Where is Sawyer?

Getting into the "Keep out of Reach of Children" cupboard. Standing on a stack of slippery schoolbooks. What was worth this peril?

"Where's the sand, Mom?"

"SAND? What sand? What are you DOING?!"
"I want the sand. That sand. That you go like this (insert demonstrative gesticulation) with."

"Oh, THAT sand." ?????

Tristan, even though Mom is taking a picture of this it is NOT an acceptable activity.

What Kids Hear....

Prologue: The laundry baskets (having made an earlier debut in this blog) are located in our room. Sawyer-taking-a-nap is also located in our room. Now, to the story....

If you play in the snow in jeans, they are not going to be dry. If you're Tristan.
"Mom, my pants are wet. They're all.....WET."
"Well, you can get some new ones. Just DON'T wake up Sawyer. Leave your pants outside the door."

Two days later I discover this:

Tristan's pants. "Outside the door." Frozen. And they are not as easy to remove as they look.

There are many things that may give you pause upon visiting our house. Add frozen-pants-on-the-deck to the list. They'll be there 'til the Thaw.

Update: Whatever happened to Tristan's pants?

Easter Egg Hunt? Snowball Fight? Anyone..anyone?

Easter Dinner at the V's. It's always an occasion.

Kiki's best friend in the whole world.

Throw in a little Super Sawyer, Power Tristy, and you're good to go.

Now it's on to the Egg Hunt: Green grass, yellow fluffy chicks, snow slogged mittens.
These kids were on a mission.

It was a FULL day.

A Little Whining

You're pressed for time. Four children are whirling around your ankles and you've promised a dessert for the potluck. Not only do you have to assemble the ingredients to make it, but because you live in CANADA, now you have to WEIGH and CONVERT them using a scale. Does anybody know how many liters=grams=9oz?
My new best friend in this metric society.
To be fair, there are some good things about living in CANADA. You can use your deck as a freezer and this greatly increases storage capacity. My groceries are enjoying the backyard. Even if it is too cold for me.

The Problem WIth GOURMET Jellybeans

Picking which flavor to eat first, hmmmmm....

Try a little cotton candy?
