Will It Be Boring?

Daddy spoke at a college retreat. The kids came along and the first thing they did was assail the trampoline.
.

Five minutes accomplished a weekend's worth of refreshment.
.

We really just expected the kids to hang out, listen to Daddy preach and make the best of whatever awaited them.

This is Kiki making the best of it.
.

Greyson, diving headfirst into the best of it.
.

Tristan, with two of his new, kind friends.
.

And Sawyer, thinking about it.
.

It takes a lot of thinking for Sawyer when it involves life jackets.
.

We'll leave him here undecided and move along...
.

Greyson, what are you doing?
.

Daddy? It looks like some sort of abstract, representational, communicative dancing.
Wait. Sawyer can give us a clue...
.

It involves a basketball, on a volleyball court.
.

And football?
.

When Sawyer wasn't mesmerized by basketball, football, or any kind of ball, he was busy doing this....
.

Sitting and staring at Rob.
.
Because Rob would do this...

Sawyer deserved the undivided attention, because he had been terrorized the day before.

But that's tomorrow's post.

He Just Figured It Out This Morning...

Biscuits from scratch with homemade blackberry jam.
Blackberries from Grandma's backyard.
.

Kids, this is the jam that made me marry your Daddy. Home made jam says a lot about a guy. He has a mom, that cares, that sends jam that she made with her own hands. This was a grounded, family guy--
But the kids were still stuck on the backyard part of the story--"Is this really from Grandma's backyard?"
Tristan was incredulous. He thought jam only came from the jam aisle.
.

"How did she make it?-- She just squished them up and put them in there." he answered his own question.
"NO", chimed in Kiki, "she had to put sugar and stuff in there too."
.

"How does she get it to us?"
.

Grandma gives us a stash nearly every time we visit.
Aren't we lucky to have homemade jam with backyard picked berries?
Four kids and a husband out of the bargain, too.

Why Does HE Get Some?

All three boys had been sent to their rooms for an undetermined amount of time.
They'd been messing around.
Greyson came out first as he was the least guilty.

Awhile later Sawyer crept upstairs uncertainly and asked, "Can Tristan and I come out now? Greyson is out."
"I gave Greyson permission," I informed him.
"Can I have some permission?" he asked hopefully.

Why I Wish There Was No Traffic On Our Street...

Sometimes their fun is confined near the driveway.
.

But more often than not, it spills into the street.
Bonus features-Greyson, there at the end, is battling a swarm of gnats.
.

These stunts require a look-out.
"Any cars?" they'll yell.
"No cars!" comes the reply.
Then the attempted stunt begins.
.

I like the safe, easy fun inside the house the best.

Climbing up the Walls...

I wish I could do that.
Wait.
Maybe I can....
.

Yep.
We're going to visit Grammy and Grandpa pretty soon.
We'll be climbing up the walls at their house in no time.
I bet they can't wait.

Soda is a rare treat at our house, it produces rare behavior.

The Snack Mitten

They had yogurt with their breakfast.

Do your kids put yogurt sticks in the freezer too? It turns them into sort of an ice cream-ish treat. But there is a downside. They are very cold to hold.
.

Enter the frying pan.

I heard them bargaining over something, turned around and saw that Greyson was in possession of a hot commodity.

I like this thinking-outside-the-box.
Problem solving.
Now if I could just get that during school hours.
