Company's Coming

The cousins are coming, the cousins are coming!
Greyson said, "Mom, I want to clean the room they are going to stay in."
I went in later and found the closet so nicely organized:

And just look at the nightstand!
Before:

After:

Greyson has seen us bustling about and organizing and cleaning and he wanted to do his part! Good boy! Today he vacuums and cleans his room. You do not want to see before and after shots of that!

Chef

Kiki made coffee cake all by herself this morning!

It just took a little longer than usual to get breakfast.
"Mom, I'm staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarving!"

Last Night Around the Dinner Table

We traded kids again. Greyson for Ethan. While we ate dinner, the topic of conversation turned to "can you do cross-eyes?"

Turns out, everyone could.

Tristan needed a little help.

And so did Daisy.

How to Make Peanutbutter Toast Sawyer Style

Peanutbutter toast fans may remember that last time Sawyer tried it, he put the toast in the toaster with the peanut butter already on it.

Today he tried the recipe again.

This is going well!

"Sawyer, can I have your recipe?"
"What's a respy?"

You have a little something on your face there.

Bon appetit!

Yum.

The Monk

A fellow homeschooling family invited us to Spiderman park for a picnic.

Why do we call it Spiderman park?

It's not the fishing.

It's this. Greyson made it to the top.

I want to be up there.

And I'm going to get up there.

Or not.

Maybe this way.

Hm, my next move...

It's really not that hard.

You just have to keep from falling.

But swinging down instead of falling is almost as good as making it to the top.

Pouring sand on the torso is also a good idea.

Tristan and Nicki engineered holes.

This is just such a kid moment. I had to put it in.

Kiki had a good friend Dorothy to explore with, and the bigger kids "fished" at the lake. Spiderman park was a big hit. Thank you Dobrena and Ludmil!

Never Been....

The Science Museum was free this weekend, and we'd never been.

Out by the pier we saw this boat and wanted it.

Until we saw this yacht

And then we saw the ship we really wanted....

We thought the Science Museum would be packed but look how many people showed up!

Once inside the kids scattered like monkeys in banana trees. Everywhere you looked there was something to do:

Build an arch...

and walk on it.

Use an air machine to make a ball go through a basketball hoop.

Listen at a parabolic disc to a whisper 50 yards away.

Try to align these magnetic gears

Sit on a chair of nails.

Stand inside a giant bubble.

Pull yourself up by a pulley...
or someone else.

Use solar energy to make a model plane fly.

Make a light bulb glow with a crank.

Experiment with sound.

See yourself in infrared.

Lift more than your weight using a fulcrum...

Try again to lift more than your weight using a brother and a fulcrum.

Get scared in the Alien exhibit by a model from the movie "Alien".

Greyson and Kiki kept their ears plugged, they did not like this part of the exhibit.
Sawyer did.

Back outside there were booths where you could sit inside a real ambulance,

Pet local wildlife,

Watch acrobats,

And then it happened. He saw a race car! A real one!

And got to sit in it!

It was very satisfying.

It had been a very full day, and it was only noon!

The Science Fair had passed the Sawyer test.
