The Truth About Birds....

The first bird to break out in song in my neighborhood today, started at 4:13am. I know this because I woke up at 3:59 and lay awake thinking thoughts such as:
"It's 3:59."
"I'm awake."
Back to the bird. What's significant is that he sang alone until 4:33. You know the other birds heard him. What were they thinking?
"Who's that?"
"It's Horace again."
"Ahhhhh, man. Are you gonna get up?"
"Nope."
"Are you waitin' for The Crack?"
"Yep."
"Good. Yeah. Right, wait for the crack of dawn. Let's do that."
Nobody even thought it was worth it until 4:55.
So all that talk about early birds? The truth is...they're sleeping in.
See Anything Familiar?
If you are tuning in from Heather's blog you'll notice that I am a copy cat. And if you're not familiar with Heather's blog, well, now you know I'm also a big fat tattle-tale. That vernacular is not popular among adults. But wouldn't it put a fresh face on the next Presidential Debate?
"Copy-cat! Copy-cat!"
"Tattle-tale, tattle-tale!"
(gavel pounding) "Don't make me come down there."

It's a Curious Thing....
At dinner tonight Sawyer informed us that we could put these things on our eyes. "But it's not for boys, Mom, it's for girls. They'll fall off boys. Only girls can keep them on." So of course we all had to try it....

It's a curious thing, whatever the kids don't like on their dinner plate, somehow makes it onto Sawyers. No one ever sees how it happens.
"Sawyer, what's on your plate?"

*gasp*

"Now I get all duh coo-cumbers."

We've All Got It....
Every member of the family has the flu. It makes your bones feel like bruised noodles and your head feel like you wished you didn't have one.
Poor Tristan has conjunctivitis on top of his allergies

Everyone else is watching a LOT of movies....

Or being cuddled, which is nice.

And with chicken soup and some Tylenol....

Kiki even felt well enough to do this:

It may be awhile before I'm posting anything. However long it takes bruised noodles to heal.

Common Denominator
There was a worship song on in our van. The chorus sang over and over the same repeated line: "I want to be the one who holds You high!"
The words were not clear enough for Kiki to hear and she thought they were saying something else. She asked, "Mom, why are they singing, 'I want to be the one who tells you how'?"
It struck us all as funny to think of a crowd full of worshipers singing, "I want to be the one who tells You how!"
And isn't that the root of the problem? Of ALL our problems? Being the boss of God and telling HIM how it's gonna be, how it should be, or asking why isn't it how we want it to be? I think Kiki hit on something.

And here's little Boss girl herself. Flipping her hair and looking like she's doing a pirouette. Being the oldest, she's living out that phrase only too well...
